Monday, August 9, 2010 Anti-vaccine movement Here's my rant: It's mind bending that the most successful scientific advancement in human history is contested.Anti-vaccinists claim that mercury causes autism, where there is no shred of scientific evidence for it. In fact, MANY scientific studies have shown that mercury do not cause autism and it has been established that increase in autism is due to an increased scope for diagnosing autism (the critria which qualifies an individual as being autistic and general awareness of autism) Even when thimerosal, the supposedly autism-causing agent in vaccines is removed, autism rates are still increasing. Anyone with any shred of intelligence would come to the conclusion that mercury does not cause autism. Even IF vaccines cause some minor side-effects, wouldn't that be better than acquiring some fatal diseases such as whooping cough and pneumonia? I'd say it's a fair trade-off. Vaccines did eradicate smallpox, which wiped out nearly 5% of the population (500 million) So are anti-vaccine rallyers just ignorant or stubborn? Why spread nonsense when it's going to do more harm than good? Why do celebrities like Jenni McCarthy think she's smarter than scientists? They are killing and causing much pain and suffering to everyone with their utter nonsense. Already vaccine-preventable diseases are on the rise globally. Is this their aim? Then good job, idiots. |
