Monday, February 11, 2008 Well..On Sunday was the first time I worked for pay...Ever..An it was a harrowing experience..It's not for everyone that's for sure.I myself barely scraped through the whole duration. There were instances when I nearly gave up.It was not because of anyhting other than fatiuge.Anyway actually my job was distributing flyers. It's a one day stint that pays quite well...$7 per hour. And the work time was 10 hours!!!!!!!To make matters worse,it was in Geylang(very far from here)... I went with my brother and the promo was actually for Singtel How was the experience?Absolutely dreadful. As you might have guessed, the human body is not aesthetically designed to stand bipedally for 10 hours. And that's what I did(not continously though..I had a 10 minute break every hour)..Well my feet ached like hell..I wasn't weariness that rendered me on the verge of giving up but it was the sheer pain that reveberated through every part of my body that caused it. Heck, even time was a foe rather than a friend. To use a simple analogy,if time was an animal,it would be a tortoise, heck even a snail.Geylang Lorong 13 is a place vastly populated by Bangledeshis,Indians and Chinese, with at least 90% of them foreigners. And when I was handing out flyers, even though there were more Chinese than Bangledeshis, easily 70% of those people who took it were the latter. There are mainly 3 types of people. The first are the ones who took the flyers, the next one are the ones who waved to signal that they do not want to flyer(which I totally understood) and the last is the ones who completely ignored me(I absolutely abhor them, even though I belong to this group..LOL..Karma!!Retribution!!)..And the group with the most members is the last one. The next time I see a flyer I would surely take it after what I went through. At night,in the last moments, time was like a snail that was high on drugs(MUCH more slower)..And even though the Night time in Geylang is said to be the turf of prostitutes,I didn't see much(probrably a few)..Maybe not much in my area as it's near a mosque..At 11pm(the dismissal time),my parents fetched me via car home and on the way to the rendezous point,my bro and I walked on very creepy places(dark and lonely) So the question is for $70 is the whole torturous and painful experience worthwile?..My answer is MAYBE Anyway the new song is You Must habe Had A Broken Heart from Westlife's new album Back Home WESTLIFE LYRICS "You Must Have Had A Broken Heart" The way you say the things you do The softness of the words you choose The times that you can read my mind And take my worries out of sight Your fingers touching on my lips And say a kiss is still a kiss And when you look at me I see I see the pain that you had to feel (chorus) You must've had a broken heart, to love me the way do Must've been so torn apart, I can see it when I look at you All the meaning that is in your eyes, the love you give will never die And I knew right from the start, you must've had a broken heart You seem to have that certain smile I can't forget after a while The day you walked into the room (repeat chorus) At once I knew the hurt that you'd been through Sometimes when its late at night and I see your face in the fire light Showing all the love you have for me, well I love you as much Sometimes, sometimes Must've had a broken heart YeahAll the meaning that is in your eyes, the love u give will never dieAnd I knew right from the start, you must've had a broken heart Sometimes..... |
