Hi guys (all the imaginary readers since no one reads this utter nonsense, sorry excuse for a blog)

I'm actually writing up a post since, well, forget it, who cares?
Anyway things have been shaping up nicely for me so far.
School is over and it's the study week period now.
The study week is a bit of an overkill since it's 4 weeks instead of the usual 1.
That's the only reason I love YOG so much (other than the notorious theme song---insert:sarcastic tone--)

I actually wanted to reveal something.
No one probably knows this about me since I hide quirks about me so well.
I'm actually a bit of a worrier.
I'm not sure about it yet but it probably have to do with me being a self-diagnosed Obsessive compulsive disorder.
I worry about stuff.

Well, you may ask, what's the big deal about that?
I worry about small stuff. Irrational worry about the most improbable scenarios.
An example is when I leave my house and halfway down the stairs, I go all the way back up just to check that the door is closed. I want to add that I'm really really sure that I've carried out the said deed.

Anyway this becomes a problem in school. Especially during assignment submission. Even though I hand in assignments, and I remember seeing myself handing it in, I often doubt myself and worry it all day and sometimes, all week.

This worry can sometimes eat me up and consume my thinking pathways until that's the only thing I'm thinking about.

I got this thing under control though, don't worry.
The only way to stop worrying in my case is to talk to myself.
Scrap that. To debate with myself.
Go point in point, what makes me worry in the first place and why I believe this is irrational.
It works. Talking to yourself. Try it

So there, a sneak peek into my ordinary uninteresting mind.

I'll definitely try to post more since I have a renewed hunger for this blog posting, even though no one cares about it.

Cya later!!!!

Anti-vaccine movement
Here's my rant:
It's mind bending that the most successful scientific advancement in human history is contested.
Anti-vaccinists claim that mercury causes autism, where there is no shred of scientific evidence for it.
In fact, MANY scientific studies have shown that mercury do not cause autism and it has been established that increase in autism is due to an increased scope for diagnosing autism (the critria which qualifies an individual as being autistic and general awareness of autism)
Even when thimerosal, the supposedly autism-causing agent in vaccines is removed, autism rates are still increasing. Anyone with any shred of intelligence would come to the conclusion that mercury does not cause autism.
Even IF vaccines cause some minor side-effects, wouldn't that be better than acquiring some fatal diseases such as whooping cough and pneumonia? I'd say it's a fair trade-off. Vaccines did eradicate smallpox, which wiped out nearly 5% of the population (500 million)
So are anti-vaccine rallyers just ignorant or stubborn? Why spread nonsense when it's going to do more harm than good? Why do celebrities like Jenni McCarthy think she's smarter than scientists?
They are killing and causing much pain and suffering to everyone with their utter nonsense. Already vaccine-preventable diseases are on the rise globally. Is this their aim? Then good job, idiots.

Hey wats up?
I decided to waste my time on this worthless blog even though no one reads it.
The First week of school has ended and my thoughts? Same old, same old
It's mostly what I'd expect from a normal semester, and even with FYP, it doesn't make much of a diference
My FYP is very very mundane, consisting of a routine that stretches on for 4 months:

Monday - Run PCR + Streak bacteria
Tuesday - Electrophoresis + Run PCR + Gram Staining + Oxidase test + Catalase test
Wednesday - Run PCR + Electrophoresis
Thursday - Run PCR + Electrophoresis
Friday - Electrophoresis

It might sound boring but I am actually enjoying it a bit too much...Even more than the lectures.
The modules this year, I thought was gonna be more interesting, but I discovered again, that it's the same old, same old.
My IS module Mind Quest For Excellence is pretty fun though..The module is about Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) which teaches you body language, behaviour how the brain works, which is what I am very interested in.

And hey a new class huh? I've had the "privilege" of having a different class every single year, so it's nothing new for me.

Tomorrow is Proteomics practical (5 hours) which is a real bummer....
I am feeling the real effects of school now..It hit me that I'll have to go through another 4 months of this...The projects, the assignments, the exams, FYP, it's pretty stressful, but I'm up for it...
Anyway this semester is brilliiant as the study week is 4 weeks!! Hahahah more time to study = less stress..

EXPLAIN THE SHAPE OF THE GRAPH
"Its curvy, with a higher bit at the end and a rather aesthetically pleasing slope downwards towards a pretty flat strait bit. The actual graph itself consists of 2 straight lines meeting at the lower left hand corner of the graph and moving away at a 90 anger each line has an arrow head on the end"

It's an actual answer from a student...But it's correct isn't it? LOL

FYP is pretty much more fun than I thought it's going to be. I like doing labwork and I think that choosing a Science career suits me well (though not as wise financially). I'm planning to be a researcher in the future, a line of work that requires more than the usual 9 to 5 work routine seen in other lines of work. However, I feel that I'm passionate about doing Science research and I think that's all that matters.
I think that in life, money isn't all that important, especially in the context of work. Finding a job that you are happy with and would gladly go to day after day is much more appealing to me than working somewhere else which I really hate and receiving twice the salary.

I am babbling ain't I?
I'd better stop now...
P.S. I hope it's BerbaTOP tonight

Just dropping by with an update.
I've just started with the experiments for my FYP on Monday...It's pretty okay and quite relaxing, not like normal school where it's so much more stressful...

I'm writing this just after watching Manchester United lose to Chelsea. I've got to say that Man Utd have no excuse for losing (even though Drogba's goal was obviously offside) . Man Utd was obviously very poor (especially the 1st half). I still believe that Man Utd can still win the title but it's gonna take Chelsea to slip up.I've always thought Man Utd will not win anything this season after losing Ronaldo and Tevez. Rooney's form gave me hope, but once he's injured, so was Man U's title hopes...
I hope they buy at least a new striker for next season...Berbatov was very poor in the Chelsea game...And please can someone please replace that old has-been Gary Neville?

Current GPA= 3.9245 Cumulative GPA= 3.8821

Well traditions aren't created to be broken, so I'll post all my results, regardless of whether it's good or bad. So here it is...
Wasn't too surprised with the results, kinda expecting it really..
Psychology was a bummer, shouldn't have picked it for my IS module...Well, I kinda blamed the group I was stuck with, which downright sucked...And what's worse is that the module was a 100% project-based module, which was opposite of what I had expected...
Well, the rest is pretty okay....

Do you see this when you look up in the sky or any bright surface?

Well, if you do, then you're not alone!
I actually do see these too when I look directly at bright objects. I thought its the most peculiar little thing. This phenomena is called "floaters"
Shapes differ between person to person, but I see a big blob of string and a "string of pearls"
Not knowing what it was before, I thought it was bacteria or some other microorgansims and thought I was special, able to see microscopic objects not usually visible to the naked eye. I actually wasn't far off...Here's an excerpt for Wikipedia
Floaters are deposits of various size, shape, consistency, refractive index, and motility within the eye's vitreous humour.Floaters are visible because of the shadows they cast on the retina or their refraction of the light that passes through them, and can appear alone or together with several others in one's field of vision. They may appear as spots, threads, or fragments of cobwebs, which float slowly before the sufferer's eyes.
I used to worry about it sometimes but I dismissed it. I stumbled upon the article by accident and it's description suited what I experienced to a T.
Turns out it is quite common but more common to people in their 30s...No treatment is needed. But some of the causes of floaters do worry me a bit as some of them do cause blindness, but I'll have to just keep tabs on this whole matter.

Hey there everyone, haven't posted in 5 months so I thought of starting anew, since I have nothing much to do anyways.

I changed my blogskin entirely...I think it fits me nicely since I am currently into the country music scene. The new song is by my current favourite artist (yes, even more than Westlife! Hard to believe right?) GEORGE STRAIT!!!

Now is the FYP period for me....This week is all about research, so I'm constantly on my PC, reading science papers which I can guarantee is exactly what it looks like; DROP DEAD BORING!

However I am enjoying this new lease of life, having ample time for play while still having something to do when the playing suddenly isn't very fun anymore.

Next week is the start of the experiments and that's when I need to come to school and get my hands dirty! Can't wait, starting to get bored at home!

Yeah! I'll be getting my results on Friday...I think I did quite well for the exams, even though some papers were slightly tougher than the others (CCTA!).

It IS the toughest semester so far, have no doubts about it, but I think I handled it quite comfortably in the end..
I don't expect too much from Social Psychology, for which to be honest, I downright sucked.....

Went to the IT show on Sunday......How was it, you said?!
HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've never been in such a confined space before....The place was literally packed like sardines! (well not that THAT literally, since I'm human and not a mackerel fish)

There were even human traffic jams in the exhibition halls and everyone was shoving each other to get to different booths while having to wade through huge piles of papers strewn on the floor....

Don't get me wrong, I knew what I was facing before I went there, but what I faced, totally threw me off my mental balance (is that real phrase? mental balance? huh!?!?)

However out of that torrid experience (which isn't helped by the equally mind blowingly hard to find parking spaces), I got myself a 320GB external hard disk for $88 and an iPod touch 32GB for $468.

What's that? So much money, you said? Well. I did get more than $3000 on bursaries and scholarships last year and another confirmed $2000 coming next year, and I haven't spent it on anything yet, so why not?

I do love my iPod touch..Love the apps that I could download for free and the fast web surfing capabilities of it. Audio quality and video format compatibility range doesn't match the ambitions of the it's web capabilities, but it's still better than your average mp3 player...

I do recommend the iPod touch over the iPhone as it's almost exactly the same, except for the iPhone having a camera and messaging and calling capabilities.. However, the iPhone is much more expensive..
The last time I checked, a 8GB iPod touch sets you at $308 while the iPhone 3GS 8GB is priced at $710...Pretty darn expensive for a camera and some extra communication capabilities....

That all I have for you folks! Till next time...And oh yeah feel free to leave comments

A lucid dream is a dream in which the sleeper is aware that he or she is dreaming. When the dreamer is lucid, he or she can actively participate in and often manipulate the imaginary experiences in the dream environment. Lucid dreams can seem extremely real and vivid depending on a person's level of self-awareness during the lucid dream.

Lucid dreaming is so cool! I would like to lucid dream one day...Imagine the possibilities....Being aware that you are in a dream!!! You can do anything u want! You can conjure up items out of thin air...Simply put you are the creator of this own world and you can do anything in it!

Reality testing

Reality testing is a common method used by people to determine whether or not they are dreaming. It involves performing an action and observing if the results are consistent with results which would be expected in a state of wakefulness. By practising these tests during waking life, one may eventually decide to perform such a test while dreaming, which may fail and let the dreamer realize that they are dreaming. (The more foolproof the reality test, the better, as assuming one is dreaming can be dangerous)

  • The hand reality check: The dreamer looks at their hands and they may appear to have more or less than five fingers.
  • The nose reality check: The dreamer pinches their nose shut and if they are able to breathe without using their nose, it is a dream.
  • Sticking one's finger through the palm of one's hand.
  • Looking at one's digital watch (remembering the time), looking away, and looking back. As with text, the time will probably have changed randomly and radically at the second glance or contain strange letters and characters. (Analog watches do not usually change in dreams, while digital watches and clocks have a great tendency to do so.)A digital watch or clock may feature strange characters or the numbers all out of order.
  • Flipping a light switch. Light levels rarely change as a result of the switch flipping in dreams.
  • Looking into a mirror; in dreams, reflections from a mirror often appear to be blurred, distorted, incorrect, or frightening.
  • Looking at the ground beneath one's feet or at one's hands. If one does this within a dream the difference in appearance of the ground or one's hands from the normal waking state is often enough to alert the conscious to the dream state.

A more precise form of reality testing involves examining the properties of dream objects to judge their apparent reality. Some lucid dreamers report that dream objects when examined closely have all the sensory properties, stability, and detail of objects in the physical world. Such detailed observation relates to whether mental objects and environments could effectively act as substitutes for the physical environments with the dreamer unable to see significant differences between the two. This has implications for those who claim there is a spiritual or supernatural world that might be accessible through out of body experience or after death.
